Why donate to the Bridge Group?

  • Why our work is necessary: The link between background and educational and employment outcomes is stronger in the United Kingdom than in other developed countries. It divides our society and hinders our creative and economic productivity. Find our more about why our work is necessary.

  • We’ve got ten years of scale and influence under our belt: We have advised 172 organisations across education, government, third and corporate sectors, analysed 180 million data points and conducted more than 2,000 interviews, informing deep qualitative insights.

  • Our evidence-driven work is with organisations of all types and sizes: We ask the right questions, uncover what works, and turn data-led insights into meaningful change.

  • Our work features practical recommendations and free tools for employers, educators and policymakers: Many examples of our work are documented in our 10 year anniversary report: Turning evidence into opportunity.

  • Our vision is simple: We work every day to advance an education system and a labour market where background is no barrier - and everyone, wherever they started in life, has the chance to realise their potential.

  • The time is now to fill evidence gaps: It’s critical that we increase the pace and impact of our work. We are seeking philanthropic partners who share our commitment to fairness, opportunity and evidence-led change to support us in this ambition. Help us lead independent research that commissioned projects alone cannot address.

Research questions we want to answer

As an independent charity, commissions from clients comprise most of our income. However, only some of our clients are able to publish the reports we prepare for them, meaning other organisations can’t benefit from the research.

Donations and grants mean we can pursue research projects of wider relevance and publish the findings in reports accessible to everyone. We are currently looking for financial support for several research questions below. Click on the first four images to find out more. We’ll be providing further details about the fifth question, and additional questions, soon.

If you are interested in making a donation or funding any of the projects below, please click on the donation button at the top of the page or contact enquiries@thebridgegroup.org.uk.

Research question 1

How can we make work experience more useful?

Research question 4

How to develop a globally applicable SEB measurement framework?

Research question 2

How socio-economically diverse are academic researchers?

Research question 5

How does a four-day working week impact people facing multiple and intersecting disadvantages?

Research question 3

How effective are higher apprenticeships as a more accessible alternative to degrees?
